BCM Charleston is an embassy or outpost of the Church on our college campuses. We believe that each college campus in our City will only be saturated with the gospel through the work of the Church in our city. In order to do this effectively, BCM exists to be a link between and advocate for the local churches in the CBA and the thousands of students in the Charleston area. Our goal is for each college student in Charleston to know Christ and be discipled as a part of a local church. We partner with the Charleston Baptist Association which is made up of over 70 congregations across the Charleston Metro.
Why does BCM Charleston exist?
We help churches connect with college students. While we believe that only the local church can provide you with a wonderful intergenerational opportunity to worship, serve, and learn from those who are much younger and older than you, we also understand that access to a college campus is a difficult thing for churches to acquire. BCM Charleston exists as a ministry on behalf of the local church to provide a more concrete connection between churches and students.
We know that college is short but serving the Church is a lifelong privilege. Whether you are getting a 2-year associates degree or have been in college for nearly a decade, it is a short chapter of your life. We want to foster life-long worshipers of Jesus who are connected with a local church, and have a passion to serve our Savior on mission. We believe that God designed the local church to be the primary means by which every Christian enjoys the benefits being adopted into God’s family.
We serve with the local church as a partner in God’s greater mission to reach the nations. BCM Charleston connects students and local churches with national and international missions opportunities through the cooperative program of the South Carolina Baptist Convention. You can serve for a week, a month, a summer, or even up to two years through programs sponsored by BCMGo.
